The Book of Sulaym ibn Qays (Arabic: كِتَاب سُلَيْم بن قَيْس, romanized: Kitāb Sulaym ibn Qays) is the oldest known Shia hadith collection. It was attributed to Sulaym ibn Qays al-Hilali (died 678), who purportedly entrusted it to Aban ibn Abi Ayyash.

About Sulaym and his book there are three opinions 1) its genuine and is considered almost the most ancient Shi'a book of Hadith: Najashi, Sh. Tousi, and Alllamah Amini and many others belong to this group. 2) its all fake: Ayat. Hasan-Zadeh as well as some of the ancient scholars. their argument is, there is almost no information about him in the books of biography of the companions, also the one who has narrated his book 'Aban ibn Abi Ayyash' is weak. 3) its like other books of Hadith, i.e. open to scholarly investigation. so every Hadith needs to be examined on its own. this is the opinion of the majority like Ayat. Makarem Shirazi.
